USING COMPASS WITH A USB TO SERIAL CONVERTER

THIS DOC USES THE BELKIN F5U103 USB SERIAL ADAPTER

ONLY

THE BELKIN F5U103 will only work, using a direct connect with the

4100SM. ADEMCO has been unable to test and pass this unit when using

with a serial modem.

Secondly, Ademco will only advise to how this process should work, and be

wired. ADEMCO does not, guarantee, USB to SERIAL devices to be fully

functional.

The drivers for this device, emulate a COM port, as seen below (NOTICE: FOR

USE WITH COMPASS YOU MUST EMULATE ONLY THE FOLLOWING COM PORTS (1,2,3,or 4).

Notice, that the drivers installed, are now emulating a COM 3.Once

emulation, does take place, assign a modem in COMPASS to the COM port

being emulated, and follow the direct connect instructions from here.
